Hey Everyone!!
Well, I'm currently sitting down with very sore feet lol. We've done a lot of walking around today! We were picked up at 9 for our City Sightseeing bus tour (it said 3.5 hrs, I reckoned driving... so chose flipflops to wear....).
Our first stop was Little India, which was lovely, very brightly coloured but we got harrassed by every stall owner...
"Would you like some insence sticks?" "No thanks" "These 5 are the most popular scents" "I'm ok thanks!" "I can do you 5 for $15" "It's ok" "Theres 20 in each box instead of the usual 10" and you get my point!
After being chased by the insence man back to the bus we made our way around the Central Business District and circled the Fountain of Wealth 3 times (for luck apparently... I just got dizzy!) before arriving at Merlion Park. It was lovely, with gorgeous views over the Singapore River and current developments as well as the CBD. There were 2 Merlion statues, one spouting water, and you have no idea how tempting it was to go stand under it!!!
We then drove through Chinatown and on to Mt Faber, the highest hill in Singapore, for great panoramic views over Singapore Harbour and Sentosa Island, and a view of the city skyline. After this our final stop was the Botanical Gardens which were so pretty! And I had my first icecream of the trip... Didn't do too badly, 24 hrs without icecream is good for me as you all know!!
After the bus tour we took a timeout session for bout an hour then made our way back to Little India, the incense guy was still there... I avoided him like the plague! Emma's camera is sick so she got a new one, after about an hour haggling with Lee, the guy behind the till! Then we went to The Banana Leaf Apolo for lunch/dinner which was lovely! Your meal was served to you on a banana leaf, the traditional Indian way of eating! After that we decided to tackle the MRT and go to Raffles for the famous Singapore Sling! Oh my word it was the nicest thing I've ever drank (or maybe I was jusr uber-thirsty!!). But at $21 it was a bit expensive (at 7 quid)!! Most drinks seemed to be expensive there tho... $15 (5 quid) for a tiger beer... which i still hafta try i mite add!
We then had a look round one of the big shopping malls (Raffles shopping centre) and guess wot we found... no not Tesco, but everything else!! Topshop, River Island, Warehouse, Dorothy Perkins, and.... Marks and Sparks!!! Crazy!!
And that brings us back to now, after a slight detour back to the hostel! I know you are all dying to see pics of the trip so far, but this free internet had to come with a catch somehow, and it wont let me upload pictures, so there's a wee tinternet cafe down the road I mite go to in the morning before heading to Singapore Zoo... Yep the zoo... and I'm so so excited!!! (big kid I know). I'll try my best to get a few pics up tho!
Well thats about it really... Met a couple from Belfast on the bus tho... So its a very small world!
Speak soon everyone, love and miss you all xxx
