This feels like ages ago now but will try to remember the details......
After leaving Funtown (Queenstown) we headed up to Christchurch witha banging head and 8 hours worth of driving. We were hoping that there was a bit of excitement to help us on our come down from Queenie but it couldne have been worse. Christchurch was poo. The only thing that got us through was the weather, gorgeous sunny day but we still couldnt wait to get away. So the after two days in Poochurch we went to Kaikoura for a bit more sunbathin and a nice BBQ, see photos. Me and the girls were staying in the love shack (main photo) whilst everyone else slummed it. Ha.
The bext day we were back on the ferry to the North island and over to Wellington where we all took part in a killa pool competition. I managed to pot a couple of balls until then then told us that we had to spin around our cue's 10 times and then take the shot. I had no chance. After my tenth spin, i couldnt even hit any balls and I was that dizzy i fell off the side of the table and some random girl had to cath me before i completely fell on the floor. No alcohol involved!!
The next day with a fresh head we went back up to Taupo where myself and Cockney Joe decided that we wanted to do the Tongariro Crossing the following day. Supposedly its in the top 10 best walks in the world. But then we also decided to go out for a few drinks that night as it was Sarah's last night with us until we met again in Fiji. Well we figured that we would stay out till about one ish and then get up in time for the walk. Slight problem....the bus picked us up at 6.15am. Meaning i would have to be up for 5.30 to get ready. Oh dear. But i set my alarm and was fine. Even though 1o'clock sooned turned into 3 but that was fine. 5.25, 5.35, 5.45 my alarm went off. Did i wake up....oops. And Joe was relying on me to wake him up as well. When i finally woke up at 6.45 i knew we'd missed it so went back to bed. When i woke up again at 11.30 and Joe asked me what time it was and i replied 11.30am. There were a few expletives said that i wont type and i got the blame. Oh well.
So we were a bit gutted about the walk but we wer leaving for Auckland the next day so we couldnt do it. Until we decided not to leave for Auckland the next day and stay an extra night in Taupo. So we did and the next morning after an early night, Me Joe and Jade (who was now on board) did the walk. It was worth it - check out photos. Was supposed to take 8 hours but being the oh so fit people that we are we did it in 6 and that was with a 50 minute stop for lunch. (Even a one legged drunk could do it in 8 hours).
Last bus jouney of the trip and that was a short drive up to Auckland. As it was all our last night togeher, it would have rude not to go out for a drink or two so we had 8, or 9. I stopped counting!! The next day we had a little wander around the city, said bye to Joe and then at the hostel it was free domino's pizza night so of course, we went there. And i ate 8 pieces. Gettin my money's worth. Even better that i didnt spend any money. ha.
Then we were up early to get the shuttle bus to the airport and bye bye New Zealand...bit weird hearing christmas songa being played when its really sunny outside but i suppose i had best get used to it if im to be spending it on a beach. So hard being a traveller.
That was a shortened version of the events over the last week or so but im sure you'll appreciate that instead of me warbling on about a load of nothing.
Lots of love Nat xxxx
