Ok, so we arrived in Melbourne very early in the morning on the 4th April. The hostel, Greenhouse Backpackers was fine and very centrally located. After catching up with the jet-lag, we headed out for a stroll around the city and had dinner at a restaurant on the Federation Wharf. We also had a ride on an enormous ferris wheel giving us a brilliant sky view of the city.
We booked ourselves on the Penguin Island tour our second day in Melbourne. The first stop on our tour was a vinery where we got to sample lots of different wines- starter, main course and desert wines! We found this very educational!! The next stop was an animal sanctuary where we were able to pet a wombat and feed kangaroos. We also had the opportunity to have our picture taken with a koala bear. We then headed to Penuin Island where penguins swim out of the sea back to their nests nightly. The penguins were tiny and very cute! We wanted to take one home!!
We spent our third day in Melbourne shopping in the Victorian lanes and sunbathing by the River Yarra, followed by a really nice evening meal at Federation Wharf.
We were both very excited on our fourth day when we went on the official Neighbours tour! We were able to walk down Ramsey St and also saw Erinsborough High School! We then got to meet Susan Kennedy and got a signed postcard as a gift. Jackie was just like Susan in real life! Our neighbours day then continued in the evening when we went to the Neighbours Night- a trivia night at a local pub where we met Stu, Stingray, Connor and Rachel! We were in our element here. We also randomly met some guys from Sheffield- one of whom was on our course!
Next stop: New Zealand
