We got up at silly oclock (7.30 am) to finish packing and get the bus to Mendoza. Becky had already been woken up once at 4am cos the drunk French woman on the bunk underneath her asked her set and alarm for her - she didn't mention until after I'd agreed that she wanted it in the dead of night! Troll! The busses here are boss, the seats are well comfy and there's a man who brings you tea and coffee if you want it! actually the tea and coffee isn't the best idea when you're travelling over the Andes on bumpy roads, the scalding hot liquid tends to want to jump out of the cup! Also they give you a snack, which is kind of them but a bit pointless cos the cheese rolls taste of styrofoam and the 'chocolate biscuite' is actually only chocolate flavoured!!! The scenery was fab going over the mountains, loads of little rivers and and cactai and stuff. We thought that we'd seen the highest bunk beds in the world but we were wrong! When we got to mendoza we booked into a hostel in the centre and the bunks here a 3 high. Luckily I got a bottom bunk, but Nat - martyr that she is - ended up with the high one! Lucy and Cherise were out in a different room and cherise got one of the mega high bunks too! The last hostel we stayed in in Chile was very strict about boys and girls having separate rooms, but this one even has communal bathrooms with dodgy little shower curtains instead of doors! Pants! We spent a couple of hours shopping - we went to C&A, I swear the clothes in there are left over from the shop in Liverpool 10 years ago! Then we went to try and sample the loacal beer. Unfortunately that bar only had Heineken so we had to drink that instaed. After that we went back to the hostel to wash our hair and ended up in the bar downstairs. After a few drinkies there,we hiked to a strip of bars where we found we couldn't drink any more anyway and got a taxi back! This morning the boys in our room told us that they'd gone to a gay bar and had videos of one of the boys past out on a sofa with a bald transvestite (who looked like Johnny Bran) touching him up!
