Our minibus started out nice, katrina and I had the entire back row to ourselves, however it was to be short lived. We stopped for refreshments and when we returned to the minibus, our seats were gone and bags were in their place. So we squished up, with a wheel taking up half the leg room. Comfortable. I didn't even get nice refreshments, there were barbecued bananas which I thought looked great, bought them and they tasted like dried s*** on a stick. So I bought normal bananas, I never knew bananas had seeds in until today... They weren't very nice in all honesty.
We arrived at sihanoukville midday and said goodbye to jamie and babs. We opted to get the fast boat for $20 across to koh rong as it looked stormy and b***** being on a slow one for 3 hours in a storm... The fast bit was so hot though, everyone was wearing buckets, I was genuinely surprised no one passed out.
On the island we had a 'talk' saying about where to go on the island, where to stay etc, to be honest, the island was tiny, we could have worked it out ourselves. Katrina and I got talking to a girl named Iona from Scotland, we decided to all stay together and founda too just inside the village as opposed to where the bars were. The rooms were basic, with bunk beds and mosquito nets, fine to sleep in. I finally got my washing done, so excited to have clean and fresh clothing!!
Once we had settled in we went to explore the beach, the local village was interesting to walk through and the beach was busy but pretty. We settled to have a drink and some food at cocos, I had the chicken BBQ which was so so good! So much yummy food for only $3.50 dollars, bargain. Iona came to join us and we had a girly evening, chatting about s*** which was good. After food and sunset we walked up the beach to find a few drinks and decided we may as well go to the police beach party. Our logic was that the beach was empty, so everyone must be at the beach party. We purchased our tickets and made our way through the jungle to the beach. After around 15 minutes we arrived. It was ridiculous, absolutely bloody ridiculous. There was hardly anyone there. Id say about 50 people, with around 10 dancing, everyone else sitting around on benches. Looked like a bloody primary school disco. I felt robbed. $7.50, for this?!
Sitting there minding my own business, begrudgingly sipping my drink, a Canadian starts talking to me. He was creepy. He asked to take me to breakfast which I declined stating I had boyfriend, to which he replied, you can't have been going out for long. 'If you don't count 2 years as very long, but I do'. Seriously who is this kid talking to me? Go back to Canada or your seat in the corner, either or doesn't bother me.
I'd had enough, I wanted to go to bed, I was tired, id been ripped off and I was looking forward to the boat trip the next day, don't want to be grumpy for that one!
So we made our way back and settled pretty quickly, I had a lovely sleep.
