Viva Brazil!
Yesterday we arrived in Bonito, which is a pretty little town somewhere in Mato Grosso do Sol (I think). As we got here at about 8 in the morning after a really uncomfortable night bus, we spent the morning sleeping in the pousada. Then we met for lunch and went to a "community swimming area". Here we practised snorkelling, sunbathed and basically chilled out with beer and caiprinhas.
Later we went to a local restaurant and tried caiman (a type of croc) and boar - yummy!
Today we got up real early and left for first a macaw depression, which was basically a protected cavern where they were flying around and nesting - beautiful birds though.
Then in the afternoon we went snorkelling down a river again in a protected area, which was so amazing. We had huge Pacus and other types of fish swimming right next to us!! Hopefully I'll be able to put some pictures up when I get them (Lew you'll be so jealous!!).
Now we're just relaxing again in Bonito and then buying some last minute supplies before heading out into the Pantanal tomorrow morning.
I'm getting quite excited about that, we are literally going to be out in the marshlands for three days, sleeping in hammocks, in a place which only has generated electricity at 2 particular times of the day!!
So next time I write I'll be back in Rio, till then...
