After the nightmare journey to Vientiane it's safe to say we felt pretty smug getting our 45 minute flight into Vietnam last night. I'm not sure either of us would have been able to face a 30 hour sleeper bus.

So we're now in crazy crazy Hanoi and have spent the day wandering around soaking up the craziness. After trying many strange travel agents we finally found a decent one and have booked a 3 day Halong bay cruise starting tomorrow. The rest of the day was spent scoffing food in the insanely busy new day restaurant where it turns out we've got a little too used to smaller Thai and Laos portion sizes! And on our way home we stopped to listen to a band playing on the street who were absolutely amazing. Highlight having to be when they pulled out a series of drainpipes and proceeded to play them (in tune!) by bashing flip flops on the top.

Hanoi is crazy.
