Namaste!
I decided to escape the heat and blog a little, even though I'm still in Mumbai. I've spent 2 days here now,and I have to admit I have liked it better than Delhi.(I hope my Delhi friends still talk to me after saying this..) I mean there are palm trees everywhere and the sea is just there. It's horribly filthy, the sea, but I still appreciate it!
Yesterday I saw the sights in full speed (took a taxi and stopped to take pics and walk for a bit) as I wasn't feeling my best..A headache apparently doesn't go well with 32 degrees celcius temperatures,go figure! In the evening I was feeling better so I went to find my mecca in India, Planet M.It's amazing how little time it takes to buy a lot of Bollywood films..;)
As a result to my trip to Planet M, this morning I ventured to the Mumbai G.P.O (general post office) with my 3 scarfs and 16 films (oh and some free cds that came with the films..), had them stitched in fabric (yes, only in India..) sealed with wax (again,India) and sent to Finland! It didn't cost much at all,I just hope they make it home safely!!
After sending my loved ones on their way (yes still talking about the films) I took a taxi to Gateway of India, where the ferrys to Elephanta island leave.I secretly hoped the caves of Elephanta would provide a cool shelter from the by now torching sun.Not to complain about sunshine!!But really needed a break from it..After a very pleasant boat ride to the island I walked up some very steep and long stairs that I wasn't prepared to, and at the top I got funny looks from people who obviously have never seen a white-limbed,red-faced, panting sweaty white woman before!! The caves were nice, but unfortunately after the stairs they didn't feel so cooling..Got some nice pictures of the statues of Shiva and Parvati though,I must've been a funny sight leaning my camera and myself against pillars to get focused pictures, still red and panting!
Tomorrow I fly to Goa and aim to take a nightbus to Hampi on the same evening, which by the way I've been told is a real experience..:)
Later!!
