Namaste!
I have had 4 hectic days in Delhi, and I have to say I'm glad to be moving on.There's nothing wrong with the city (exept the pollution,I blow my nose in the evening and what comes out is black..) but I guess I long for something more peaceful. After spending the first day mainly sitting in my room and panicking,I spent wednesday touring the city with Shalabh and Javed, they took me to Qutab minar which was beautiful and then to Surajkund crafts mela which had handicrafts and folk dancers from all over India. It was so colourful and lively,I really loved it there! I am very greatful to Shalabh for telling me about the history of everything, the man is a walking encyclopedia! But it actually made the sights so much better. On thursday I went shopping and bagged a pair of flipflops and 12 bollywood films..
Today I have seen the Red Fort with Shalabh and Andrea, a very nice brit girl I met over breakfast. We also went to old Delhi and tasted local sweets, very nice! Shalabh also very patiently sorted out my phone problems, without him I would've been completely lost.. I got kicked out of my hotel today, well not literally but I only booked for 3 nights and ended up needing 4,so after some very desperate searching I found a room in the hotel next door.It was a rip-off, but I'm so glad I took it as people after me were refused a room. All the hotels are completely booked, I was told why but forgot..Now I'm gonna go take a very deserved shower (combine hot weather, pollution and hours of walking and you'll get the idea) and then I'll go to bed for a few hours, before heading off to new adventures in Rajasthan!
