After around 16 hours sleep I woke up refreshed and with rather pink forearms and knees (water to wash off suncream and intense sun doesn't work well for my skin) I got ready and headed to school. After catching up with everyones weekend stories we headed to class where I was alone! On the first day I had private tution as noone else had joined us which helped with pronounciation etc! On Monday night my housemates and a few others met at a local bar, recommended by our Salsa teacher, for a few drinks and by chance there was a really good Reggae band on. They brought in a really big crowd and were amazing! Playing some of my favourites (Santana) and popular music like Bob Marley and recent hits, everyone was dancing and when appropriate dancing salsa! We pretty much left that up to the locals though! During the rest of the week I was joined by another classmate from the Bahamas, enjoyed Yoga, Salsa and conversation classes, explored downtown San Jose and planned my weekend trip to the Bocco del Toro Islands in Panama!
After graduating from school (getting a certificate and everything) I really feel like it was a valuable experience, learning alot about the culture, meeting new friends, salsa dancing and of course my massivly increased comprehension of spanish if not ability to speak! I would recommend CRLA to anyone who wants to learn spanish and travel Costa Rica! So after all this I am now slightly more equiped for the next stage of my travels...meet Anna 'the Wayfaring Stranger' Willis! Wish me luck!
