Mums' Edition!!!!
We arrived at the airport in plenty of time feeling calm cool and in total control or so we thought. After going to the wrong check in desk we eventually found the right one. On handing in our passports the oh so smart check in girl asked us if we had up to date Australian Visas. Horror on both mums faces. Our hearts sunk and two minutes of complete and utter panic followed. We looked at each other trying to find comfort and a solution. No comfort, no solutions only panic. After what seemed like for ever the oh so smart check in girl informed us that we could in fact buy a visa from the very next desk!!!
Next disaster.... We proceeded to passport check where Frances was trying to smuggle in contact lens cleaner. She failed miserably. The lens solution has to be placed in a small container. Hey ho. Back to check in desk. Surely no further mishaps could occur. How wrong we were!! Frances was frisked much to the amusement of Fay. Would Fay have left me. Of course not. We were in this mess together. Finally we suceeded and headed straight for the nearest bar to consume much needed large glasses of wine.Â
On the plane they proceed to feed us continuously for two days in between shutting the blinds and forcing us to go to sleep (16.30!!) We hardly saw daylight for two days so had to take them up on their kind offer of free alcohol during the journey.
An emotional reunion between mums and daughters made it all worth while. The girls look very well, tanned relaxed unlike the mothers!! There is lots to discover in Melbourne and hopefully a fantastic two weeks will be enjoyed.Â
