We took about a 4 hour bus to reach the Miami of Australia. There isn't much to do here apart from party hard!
The beach isn't that great. There is lots of construction going on at the moment to try and make it more upmarket. This time next year it will look lovely I'm sure. The beach is full of posers too, you don't seem to see many big people here on the beach.
Anyway, we went out every night as that is the thing to do here. Neither of us have really brought any dressy clothes, so thankfully my bargain buy dress came in handy for the 3 nights we were in Surfers Paradise. It's ladies night on Tuesday and Thursday at the main club in town, SinCity. So all the girls got free entry and free drinks all night! James wasn't happy because he had to pay $8 per drink! All the locals seem to make an appearance on ladies night.. dressed up to the nines, wearing as little clothes as possible but lots of makeup and hairspray... full of such posers! I must admit I felt awful with my messy hair and flip flops (otherwise known as thongs). I am going to have to buy some sandals in Sydney, as they do not allow thong entry.. great, more money to spend. James is ok as he has got his £5 pair of Decathlon pumps that hurt his feet!
We tagged along with some room mates on a bar crawl they had paid $30 for.. we got it free! On the way into to one of the clubs, we met a girl we were on Fraser Island with and she was part of the bar crawl staff, so she gave us the wrist bands for free!
I cannot believe at how horny people are here.. boy meets girl, boy and girl dance, boy and girl kiss, boy and girl are out of the club doors down some alleyway; and all in the space of 10min.. crazy! The bar crawl staff even hand out condoms, I think some people feel that they need to use everything that is given free to them. The room next door to us had a Canadian girl and 3 German guys; and they all took it in turns with her! People just drink and have fun time here.
We have been missing a really good meal a lately, so we splashed out on an Indian, minus the pickle tray.. each pickle was $2 each.. so we sacrificed this and had dry popadoms instead!
