Stopped for a pee break a bit before Merredin. Here is NOT the place to hide from view! Found a more suitable bush to hide behind ;).
Birds we have seen today - Noisy Miner, Pied Butcher Birds including a juvenile plus the ever present ravens and galahs and a couple of birds of prey too distant to identify.
Drove through a town called Ghooli! Also passed the Etamoogah Pub - an exact replica of the one I remember from Uncle Ted's Bill Jolliffe comic books. (Geoff do you remember reading these at their house in Fremantle?).
Comment for Dad - Just east of Northam was the first and only "I'm bored" for today.
Camped for the night at Boorabbin National Park. Our total distance covered today was 450km. The thermals, down jackets, gloves and beanies were in use by 5pm - cold clear night. Not much sleep - all awake at 4.20am wondering if it was time to get up! I was up just before sunrise, in time to see a currawong scavenging bits of cooked pasta and carrying them away. We had been serenaded for what seemed like most of the night - found the culprits - Pied Butcher Birds.

M & D Glad to hear that you were on your way. We will have to get out our bird book! How are the wildflowers? More cold nights to come.
Gill Sounds like you are off and running, enjoy the country. Looking forward to your next blog. Are you keeping a bird log?
