This gave me wry amusement - after we had passed the road train, we were held for a while behind the lead vehicle in the convoy. We had just succumbed to a feed of 'pub grub' and had all scoffed bacon and egg rolls with chips. I felt wide! (It was cold and windy when we stopped for lunch and there was a single pub across the road with the temptation of free coffees and hot food.)
We are now definitely on the homeward stretch. We left Wilpena Pound this morning after 3 nights there. Did some nice walks, saw lots. Got some beaut lizard photos. Tim did a Kids' Activity and learned about feral plants and animals in the area. We saw a Hemu (as distinct from a Shemu) with his two stripy chicks (see photo). Our neighbours had a large male 'roo in their tent scoffing their bread. Said roo gave the ranger some nasty scratches before being booted out of the tent.
Now driving to Port Augusta for fuel and food, then it's Westward Ho! We're thinking of doing Peak Charles and Wave Rock on the final stretch.
Love to everyone.
PS - two posts today, and another new photo ...

Dianne Glad to hear from you and that you are heading westward. Still relaxing with Heather and family. Looking forward to hearing about all your travels in person. See you in a couple of weeks.
Fiona Hope the last bit goes well. SAust to Perth is a bit of a mental challenge. I remember doing it when the road was not sealed in a station wagon and we bumped our way across.
