As we rose for our last day in Disneyland the kids were very excited. Today was droid day. Stacey, Sue, Emily, Matilda and I would be making our own droids. The discussion was based around which model would you make. Emily being a newbie to the franchise was going with a BB series as she already has a small BB-8 at home. Stacey, Sue and I are old school and Matilda wanted to join us making the R series. After dropping past a few stores on Main Street we made our way to the Droid Depot in the Star Wars section to begin the build. Once we had our instructions it was time to collect the parts and then get into the construction. Part selection was the hardest bit, what colour did we want to go with? Matilda wanted the original (R2D2) so she had it easy, the rest of us took longer to make our minds up. Once we had built our units the staff activated the droids. They were now under their master's control. We left them in droid daycare while we spent the morning getting a few more rides in on our last day.
We visited California Adventure Park as Stacey and Sue wanted to ride the Guardians of the Galaxy. This is an elevator that goes us and then just drops. Not my cup of tea, but they enjoy these rides. While they finished off Penny and I took in the Disneyland Railway, a tour of the park with visits to scenes along the way. It was a nice slow way to finish. We collected the droids and then finished our 4 day adventure in the "happiest place on earth". It was good coming back after 30+ years. I still remember bits, but I guess a lot has changed too.
We got our bus from the hotel to our next stop on our grand journey of the west coast to Santa Monica. It was going to be a 1 hr and 15 min jounrney across the greater city of LA, assuming there was no traffic issues. A short way into the journey I was exhausted so I took a little nap. There was a few traffic jams but they did clear (at least I think this is was the case, or it was a dream I had). We got checked into our rooms and took a stroll around the streets of Santa Monica to find some supplies. As we walked up Santa Monica Blvd, we saw a British shop and through the window we saw it. It was like winning lotto or finding gold. I ran in with excitement and almost tripped over in my thongs. Yep, Vegemite. I have been conserving our last tube and had conceded that once it ran out I would have to go cold turkey until we got home. Thank the British for their support of this great product and my survival.
After getting the rest of the food we went back to the hotel, did some washing and hit the hay while watching golf (Penny is getting a bit over the Golf Channel I think).
