A beautiful, clear and chilly day greeted us as we drove towards Stirling and a catch up with Mary and Allison at the Blue Bell tea room. It was really nice catching up with Mary over a cup of tea, cakes and lunch.
After a couple of hours we said farewell to Mary and Allison and headed up to Stirling Castle. It was fine example of a castle with many nooks and crannies for the kids to explore. James and Tom had the chance to use the cross bow at a target in the castle garden. Both managed to hit the targets and didn't seem to mine the wait.
After a couple of hours mum had to send some search parties inside the castle to locate Dad. He had taken himself into the military museum and completely lost track of time. Finally, Dad emerged and we jumped into the car and headed to the Falkirk Wheel.
The Falkirk Wheel was very good and a excellent example of Scottish engineering. We all loved watching the boats move from the lower canal to the higher canal. We also loved playing on the playgrounds before heading back to the apartment at Edinburgh.
