Friday was a partial travel day but we still had the morning. Chris was flying to NYC and I had a train to catch to Pittsburg PA. We took a morning boat trip on the Chicago river. We went to a play at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, a company founded in 1974, and named for the novel. The play was East of Eden, Chris knows I like Steinbeck, we had really good seats. It was a little different take on the play then I remember but the actors did a very good job. One of the rare late nights for me on the trip so far. Brought back the book and the movie and James Dean.

Museum Day - Chicago Institute of Art has some very impressive works. When Chris and I go to museums we tend to wander off on our own and eventually find each other. My favorite part of this museum was the paintings definitely the impressionist - Monet and Chagall. I went back to those rooms several times. It is hard to imagine that most of these paintings were at one time in private homes. I wonder if they realized how lucky they were to have them.

We started the day late because I am fighting off brochitis and Christopher has something in his eye. Chris brought me lots of fluids and chicken soup and I felt good enough and wanted to venture outside. We walked around the city enjoying the fresh air. We were supposed to leave Memphis at 10:40Pm but the train was delayed. We had a great dinner and hung out in the Peabody Hotel, which is a great place to hang out. I was feeling like I was getting a little sick so we got some self medication from the drug store to take before the train ride.
