Stockholm is built on several islands with one island having most of the historic and tourist attractions. We docked within waking distance of the main city. We got to the old town in time to see the changing of the guards at the Royal Palace. It was even more impressive than that in London - being done on horseback. This was a tender port. After getting off the tender we walked over to the major attraction in the city - an old fort that guarded the city. We toured the fort, walked around the city for a while and headed back to the ship for some needed R 7 R.

Warnemunde is a coastal resort town on the Baltic. We had a Euro Railpass and decided to take the train to Rostok, about a half hour away. The train was painted with CocaCola logos. Rostok is an old Hanseatic Capital. The City hall is about 500 years old and is still in use. Since this area was in East Germany, we saw lots of reconstruction in progress. Arhus is Denmark's second largest city and is located on the Jutland Peninsula. We took a ship's tour to a rebuilt old Danish town. We enjoyed seeing what Danish life was like a few centuries ago. After the tour we wandered around Arhus for while. One thing we noticed was the huge number of bikes the people used.

We wanted to go see the Viking Ship in Oslo. Holland America had a tour there but our table mates told us how to take the local ferry across the bay and then we could walk to it. It was great advice. After looking at the very well preserved ship, we wanted to take the ferry back to the main part of Oslo. We were in a residential neighborhood.
