Leaving Las Vegas (no us, not the film) today Saturday, we headed towards our next stop at a small town in Arizona, called Williams. From Williams, a steam train goes up to the Grand Canyon and will be our trip on Sunday.
On our journey, we saw amazing scenery. Huge open dessert lands and mountain ranges. Much of it with no sign of human habitation.
We stopped at the Hoover Dam. A visionary feat of engineering and human endeavour. The stats were staggering. We went down 55 floors into the base of the dam with a mountain of concrete above us. It also produced Mead Lake, the biggest man-made lake in the world.
We aslo experienced a rainstorm in the dessert with fork lightening flashing all around us!! It wasn't scary at all but I do sometimes wonder if I might be a Rain God, as rain seems to follow me around wherever I go!
We passed through some Indian Reservations. Not the most hospitible of lands, so wasn't much of a concession by by the white man back one hundred years ago.
Cheers for now
