So we land into LAX and find another big benefit to being at the pointy end of the plane - you get to the start of the customs and border control area before the other 200 people on the plane! It was all pretty smooth and LAX is really well organized. We found the zone to wait for the Thrifty mini van to take us to the hire car place. But that's where the easy stopped. Thrifty was a nightmare. Wrong info given, told we could have the specially requested Dodge Charger only to find out we couldn't. And considering before we handed over the credit card I said if we couldn't get the Charger we wanted a cheaper car Kel was not happy! The manager finally agreed to give me a refund and we left jn search of another car hire place. And then there was Hertz. And a Dodge Challenger. Again the angels started singing. The Challenger is the car in Vanishing Point one of Kurt and Scotts's fave movies circa 1970. Dodge released a new model last year and this car is a beast. Kurt was all of a sudden quite excited by the 4 hour drive to Vegas. Big ass Hemi engine that roars when you start the engine. Despite the left hand drive, the peak hour traffic and the Garmin that took 20 mins to find a satellite connection we made it across town and onto the I-15 without incident. Here we come Vegas!!
