I woke up in the morning to find Shivani already awake and making use of of our facilities to beautify herself. It was quite early still and I lazied in bed for a while before we both checked our finances and I ordered a new driving license.
Shivani then went to shower up while I took one last dip in our private pool. I then showered and we packed up our things ready to leave, taking a few toiletries and a dressing gown.
We then went for breakfast, making sure we ate well as we had a long bus ride ahead of us. We took our time and enjoyed the view one last time. When we were both satisfied we went to check out. Shivani wanted to make the point that we had not been totally satisfied and asked to see the manager. She explained to him the problems we had during the stay, he was very understanding and apologised. He also took off the bad meals we had and also refunded us one night without any fuss. This meant we got 3000reals back which was a massive saving for us. I was very impressed with Shivani and felt this made up for the the problems we had.
After sorting this out we got in the taxi that was waiting for us and headed to the bus station. We got there in good time and after unsuccessfully trying to get money out went to the bus.
The bus arrived a little late but we were quickly able to board and get on our way. We were also happy to find we could be dropped at the airport in Recife which would be much closer to our hostel and save us time and money on the transfer.
It was a 5 hour journey to Recife and we passed the time listening to our audiobooks. The time quickly passed and we reached Recife on time. We disembarked at the airport and quickly found a taxi to take us to our hostel which was a short distance away.
When we got there however we found that had given our room away. This was becoming a common thing and we weren't happy. Shivani spoke to the owner, who could speak good English, on the phone and she said she would sort things out. We waited in the hostel for her and when she came she apologised and took us to her aunts hostel which was a short ride away.
We enquired with her about finding am ATM and she said she would drive us to one. So after we dropped our stuff at the hostel we got on her car and went to the bank. Shivanis card didn't work again but luckily mine was working. We then asked for a good place to eat and she kindly drove us to an Italian place where she told the owner that Shivani was a vegi and to call us a taxi after.
Although she had messed up our booking she had been very helpful and we were glad she had organised everything for us. She left us in the restaurant where we ordered food and wine in a very traditional setting.
The ravioli and risotto we had were both good and we enjoyed the meal only slightly being put off by the fact the restaurant kept its door locked. Recife was said to be a dangerous place and the security we saw here and around the buildings made us believe this. I was kinda glad we didn't stay here longer if this is what it was like and after the meal we got straight in a taxi back to the hostel.
The streets were actually quite lively and it didn't seen that unsafe as we drove back. We didn't want to venture out though and when we got to our hostel asked them to book a taxi for the airport the next morning and retired to our room. It was only 9pm but our flight was at 5am so we got ready got bed. We set our alarms for 3am and turned off the lights and tried to get some sleep.
