Hello and welcome to the final edition of the Mookie World Tour from foreign soil. It pains me to say that it has nearly come to and end. So I'll fill you all in with what we've done in Thailand.
We arrived in Bangkok on Saturday 6th at 4am after our plane was delayed for 3 hours. We sorted out a hotel at the airport, got a taxi there and went straight to bed.
Our hotel booking included a free tour which we did later that day. It turned out that it was only the two of us, and we were taken around in a Volvo. We saw temples and a few other sites. We also went to a tailors to get some suits made. Apparently Michael Parkinson and Jimmy White have had suits made there. That's what they claimed anyways. We got the rest of our time in Thailand sorted at a tourist agency.
The following day we hit the Chatuchak weekend market and bought a ridiculous amount of stuff. 2 watches, presents, shoes, belts, a bag (to carry our new stuff home in) and a few other bits and bobs later we headed back to the hotel for a rest. We got picked up by the tailors for our second fitting an hour or so later. To our relief, the clothes fit very well. They then offered to take us anywhere in the city, so it was off to a shopping centre. Here we bought t-shirts and 20 DVDs for less than 30 quid. Loving it.
The next day, to save time, we took a flight down to Phuket. We stayed in Phuket for one night before catching an early ferry to Ko Phi Phi island.
We spent 3 days in Ko Phi Phi eating, drinking, sleeping and relaxing. It's a beautiful island which was pretty much destroyed by the Tsunami, but they've done a good job of rebuilding a majority of it. We also found a restaurant chain which offered cooking courses in Phuket.
We got back to Phuket on Friday 12th. We did our cookery course yesterday at Pum's restaurant. We were lucky to have Pum herself in the restaurant. She hadn't been there for 6 months because she'd been setting up another restaurant in France. The class lasted about 4 hours and we learnt loads of stuff, which I'm not going to bother writing out here!
Today we went to get a Thai massage which was nice for most of it but painful in parts! Jo is having a 2 pound haircut at the moment and we're going to have a lazy last afternoon.
So there you have it. I'll probably do some sort on conclusion/summary post when we get home. If you could make the weather a bit better in England that would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Lots of love
