Happy New Year! On Christmas Eve we had a little trip into Geelong where I managed to find a jumper (at last). It was the coldest Christmas in Melbourne since 1885. 16 degrees isn't that cold, but it felt cold for Australia. Merry Christmas everyone! We're now in Geelong staying with Jo's second cousin and his family. It's not actually that warm... but warm enough for shorts! We met up with Marko (Aussie hero we met in Buenos Aires) and Suzie's grandma in Brighton before starting the long journey back to Melbourne. We had a lovely weekend in Canberra, being looked after by John and Madeleine. It was great to be in a house for a few days and be chauffeured in and out of town! We saw the Old and New Parliament Houses (had lunch on the roof), the National Gallery, National Library and the High Court. We visited the National Museum too. We felt more culturally aware. After Byron Bay we headed to Surf Camp at Arawara beach to become world champions (of surfing). We had one lesson in the afternoon and one the following morning. The ratio of surf heroes (instructors) to surf dudes (us) was quite low which at times made it difficult to get help when we were struggling.
