Edinburgh to Bourne - some delay getting our rental car, and the drive seemed to take a while due to roadworks but nonetheless we made it! Lovely to spend more time with Mike & Sue as we were not expecting them to be there. They extended their flight back to Cyprus so we enjoyed a home cooked meal with them. Wine, gin & tonics, dessert over good chats. Lovely! Only 3 sleeps to go before we head home :(

Not very nice weather today...rainy and windy all day! Perfect weather for shopping really....we both bought a few new items and some more souvenirs. We booked Mercat Tours - the Historic Vaults Tour. It was pretty cool going into the vault under the bridge that extended Edinburgh to the south, was brief however. Afterwards we did a bit more shopping and headed out for our last pub meal with the parentals, had a traditional Scottish meal and enjoyed it. Tomorrow ...

10am walking tour was on the agenda... It was a good tour, the guide was very enthusiastic, you had to appreciate his efforts! We got to see where J.K Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book, the school with the view of the castle on the rock which gave her inspiration for the series, and the grave sites of people of whom she took their names for the characters in the books. We had ribs again for lunch, curtesy of TGI Friday's and then Bek did what she did best...

We left Beauly bright and early to make our way to Edinburgh. Our first stop was at Fort William, we thought that there was a fort...well, there was but it got destroyed. We then moved on to Stirling Castle. The roads were windy and we didn't move very fast. After lunch and seeing the castle, we dropped the car off at the airport and got to our accommodation. We stayed in central Edinburgh, surrounded by shopping, heaps of pubs and a view of the castle. So guess ...

Driving day! We left Dundee and headed headed north...we drove through Aberdeen and had a brief stop in Keith and continued to Inverness for lunch. We had sunshine the whole day which was lovely! Reached a maximum temperature of 18 and at times, it was warm. Inverness seemed to be a busy place, but parking was difficult. We then drove along the Loch Ness, and took some photos.
