SARAHS' MONKEY MADNESS
Hey everyone! Well it's taken me a good two hours to put up my pictures so I hope you all know how lucky you are haha! And they are still not up yet! GUTTED!!!! Good job its free tinternet haha So since last time I spoke properly I set off on my lonesome adventure and left Deeka in Las Vegas haha! As I said previously the trip was awesome and although I was shattered San Diego made up for it. I spent 2 nights and 2 days here and had a pretty much relaxed couple of days. San Diego outskirts are very Spanish but the city itself is so beautiful! The Gaslamp quarter where I was staying was also very multi cultural with lots of up market bars and restaurants etc... and a few clubs which I will speak about laters! California is really starting to attract me as one of those places I could so easily move to. So anyways, on my first day I got up early (not as early as two of the other retards though 4.30 am and 6 am to go to friggin sea world and the harbour!! Who would do that!) the girls in my dorm were all foreign and slightly unfriendly to say the least but I coped and met three really cool guys from England! Woopie! So back to my story- I got up and decided I wanted to explore the city by tour and after researching it and using my intelligent mind I figured out how to do it for free haha! It was one of those hop on hop off thingy majiggys that goes to all the sights! I realized that the only stop that is a pay stop is the number 1 so guess what! I got on at number two and number 9 therefore managed to have a free day out woopie dooooo!
I went to all places including; the harbour (for those that don't already know - San Diego is a naval base!) I saw lots of massive aircraft carriers, the star of India (the oldest ship in the world that has travelled the most times around the globe!) the ship that was used in master and commander (russel crowe) and the café and steep street used in top gun. I also went to Coronado island - this is where the famous Hotel del Coronado (the setting for the movie some like it hot!) and I must say it is gorgeous! A very beautiful island and lots of little boutiques and rich people. Seaport village is just off the harbour and is again full of little restaurants and shops too! The best part of my day was the afternoon I spent at the world's best zoo and Balboa park. I saw lots of monkeys and got some awesome videos. The park is that large it even has buses taking you around and a sky hanging lift thingy! High and scary but I managed it! I saw the only pair of pandas in the USA with new baby who was precariously perched at the top of a tree on a small branch! Did no one think to get it down seen as though it's an endangered species! (obviously not!!) I also saw the usual elephants, rhinos, polar bears (all sunbathing) seals, sea lions, lions, kangaroos etc... etc... you name it was there!! On the way back from the zoo I went to Old Town for a famous burrito (cheap and yummy!) this part of Diego is very Spanish and Victorian. Reminded me of the wild west or something! But all the same very nice! Cheap margaritas too so I bought myself one for the journey back so I could have a drink before going out on the pub crawl.
So I get back to the hostel and find that the only people on the trip are me and three English guys that I met earlier! So I decide I don't wanna crash the party and go chill with them for a while until I'm finally persuaded to join them! Woah! What a night! We all ended going to a house party of the guy who works at the hostel and managed to stay up until 7 in the morning before crashing out with the cats! EEWWWWW minging! So that night there was wrestling, open fires lots of drinks and tortillas and crazy dancing from the boys who were parading around the garden in swimming trunks haha! Wish I could have taken my camera! We all got a taxi back and got back to the hostel at 10! Yes in the morning! Oops! So on the last day we all went for dinner to TGI's and then chilled out looking around the shops and watched the outsiders! So a really nice day with some great people! Hello to Peter Stringfellow, Andy Peters and Darren Day hahahaha! It's the only way I remember names! LOL So I said my good byes and caught a cab to the airport! So I get there quite early and managed to squeeze onto an earlier flight so was feeling quite lucky until I reached customs! How embarrassed was I when my bag and contents kept going back and forth through the scanner! It was the searched very thoroughly in front of me! Firstly they though I has some kind of explosive device (bronzer!) then they found my pen knife (oops) and destroyed it, then they found my washing line that they thought was a fish hook! Hahahah funny but crazy! So because of this they also called back my luggage to be searched so I had to traipse all the way back through the airport to unlock all my bag! Annoying yes! So after all this I just manage to get to my gate in time! And then see the plane! Oh my god! It was the smallest plane on the planet! Practically a private jet with seats for max 30 people! Only three seats in a row and no room to move whatsoever! I actually banged my head as I tripped up getting on the plane! So was this a sign of things to come! Story continued tomorrow......
Over and out xxxxx
