Sculpture Toro de Grazalema In Grazalema, from ancient times to the present day, the bull is still treated as a sacred animal, to which no harm is done, respecting it and admiring it at the same time. The famous Toro de Cuerda in Grazalema is considered one of the oldest in Spain,The Monday of the Bull on a Rope in Grazalema is the most important and deep-rooted festival celebrated in this municipality. The Toro de Cuerda (Rope Bull) of Grazalema is still carried out in the traditional way, that is, as it was run in the old days; there is a fight between animal and man, with only a rope or string that separates or unites them. The bull is paraded through the town centre, where the young men who carry the rope (formerly made of esparto grass and now made of a soft material like nylon and light weight) guide it and lead it through its narrow cobbled streets to go around the whole town and be able to show it in almost every house. Beautiful races are held, not without risk.he houses in the village are whitewashed a few days before the procession of the Virgen del Carmen, on the Sunday before Bull Monday, so that each facade looks its best.
