Parroquia de la Encarnación The church was built around 1614 according to a design by the architect Pedro Díaz de Palacios (1549-1636), known as the builder of the cathedral of Malaga. The early 17th century church suffered significant damage during the battle of the Spanish against the Napoleonic occupation troops in the early 19th century. The church was also largely destroyed during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The church was continually rebuilt, but in fact only a small part of the building, namely a modest chapel, originally dates from the early 17th century.
