Ubeda
Casa Museo “Sinagoga de Salomón” detail of upper balcony. In Úbeda is what must have been one of the largest Hispanic Jewish communities in the 12th-13th centuries, coinciding with the last Muslim years and the first of the Christian conquest (1233,) During this time, the Jewish community had great economic weight in local life, with houses and synagogues even outside the Jewish quarter (located in the Alcázar neighborhood) which is where this house is. The Jewish quarter of Úbeda was one of the most important in the old Kingdom of Jaén,This Jewish quarter, along with the others in the same kingdom, would see its true decline in the year 1391, after the bloody persecutions that occurred throughout the country.
