The Citadel
When Ottomans conquered Cairo, they stripped Al-Nasir Mosque’s marble panels and most of its decorations. But when the British occupied Egypt, an amateur archaeologist got the permission to repair the mosque. The British archaeologist succeeded in repairing some parts of the mosque. Later, The Egyptian authorities reinforced the plastered walls and repaired the rest of the mosque.
