Hello!
We are in queenstown now and will be for the next three nights! After takaka we drove to greymouth which was rubbish but the hostel was funny being themed and we participated in earth hour by basically not using electricty for an hour and sitting in the dark...it was odd. we then went to the Franz Joseph Glacier which was absolutely amazing. I did a half day hike which took about 5 hours but it was brilliant and really scary with huge drops and only crampons to hold me on the ice. the town was very small but seemed to have half of hills road there...
we then travelled through fox glacier stopping at a salmon farm to wanaka, supposedly a town that shows what queenstown used to be like. our hostel overlooked the lake and mountains and we did karoke that night in the bar which was fun! We also have managed to see so many people we have met along the way repeatedly...two girls we have seen randomly at least 3 times and we saw some people we met in fiji in a supermarket in Nelson in the south island! we also bumped into kat and bex who we went to hills road with and met a girl who had been to hills road 2 years above us. so we are obivously not alone at all.
today we went up a gondola to see the lake at queenstown and did a luge down.
The driving had been good, just very winding. and yesterday we were slightly attacked by a herd of cows crossing and running down the road. we also don't have much radio reception and our cd we bought in the salvation army of random songs gets a bit tedious.
still having a great time, and eating dollar noodles to save money...
xxxxx
