Little Mick's Hunny Harem Extravanganza
Day 3 of our trip and we were up early again for the Olgas. We got to the sunrise platform and waited for guess what? Yes the moon. Nah the sun. I got some truly amazing photos of the sun rising this morning although I was preoccupied with getting a lump of wood out of my thumb. I suppose some would call it a splinter, but it was f*cking big.
Anyway whilst doing the fool taking photos of the Olgas Alan came up with a great idea for taking photos. I'd get a few people together. They'd all stand their with big cheesy grins and I'd say 1,2,3. They were all thinking I was letting them know I was taking the shot, but really I was giving Alan a 3 count to throw water over them. We got James and Katrin a classic as you'll see when I find a place to upload the photos. I was making good progress with the photos last night until I got asked to stop for using up all of the bandwidth at the internet cafe!
After seeing the sunrise we went for a walk through windy valley. This was around a 10k walk which was pretty tiring (again) but it was good. As usual every one would move around trying to chat to everyone and have the craic. We seen a couple of kangaroo's or some thing like them along the way. We then came across a big spider in the water. The poor sod was half dead so Matt lifted him out of the water on a stick and put him on a rock. We then took lots of photos. poor spider, he's porobably dead now!
10k done and it was back to camp to pack up and have lunch. We had quite a long drive to the Kings Canyon site and it was almost five when we got their. We had the option to ride buggy's, go camel riding or a helicopter ride, but I was shattered. I was going to do a camel ride around the yard with James and Chardaz (sorry I know I've spelt your name wrong) but they had finished for the night. James, Michael and collette all went off to ride the buggy and said it was brilliant.
Meanwhile back at the camp myself and Nicolas got to work on the camp fire. I put my foot into the ashes only to realise that they were still red hot, so we threw some small twigs on and sure enought up they went without any light. The next thing we had a roaring fire going. It should be on the front cover of the wayward bus magazine soon as it was a great fire. the only thing was that we had most of the wood burnt before it got dark or cold. Luckily it didn't get too cold and we had just about enough fire wood to keep it going through the night. We had a few beers around the campfire and considered playing I never ever, but we were worried what it might lead to.
James was sleeping 1 side of the bus with 5 or 6 others, so Alan, Kim, myself, Katrin and Christina took the safe option and moved our swags by the fire. James came first place for the name game and for snoring. Isn't that right batman? Although myself and Alan were not too far behind on the snoring front. Anice warm night at Kings canyon before getting up for our last sunrise - Thanks be to God.
