Hey everyone! Tom and I are now in Lop Buri, which is a lovely sleepy city filled with 6th-12th century temples, and the main attraction, a temple overrun with monkeys. We've just come back from the monkey temple, and it was just incredible. It was like walking around the film set for Planet of the Apes... the monkeys were everywhere - they own this place! And not just the temple, but the surrounding area too. To be honest it was a little scary, because I was seriously paranoid about getting bitten, but we're okay - haven't caught rabies yet! The way the tourist guides prevent people getting bitten is by escorting people around the temple and using a Dennis the Menace style catapult... very amusing and highly effective.
Last time we blogged, we didn't have time to mention the best/funniest bit of our elephant trek; as Tom tried to get on the elephant in the water his shorts ripped! From then on he had to be very strategic about how to sit and when/how to pose for a photo in case he brought a whole new meaning to dominating the beast (Yardley boys, you know what I'm talking about! heheheh).
We're not staying here in Lop Buri long, we're catching the next train to Chiang Mai tonight - we have a 12 hour train journey ahead of us. It'll be worth it though because we're going to do some trekking and visiting hill tribes from the region. I'm very excited about that! Lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxx
