Megsy on the go...
I headed to Sweden for the World Rally Championships (WRC) with my housemate Gav (also from Adel) for the weekend!
We checked out Gothenburg, Karlstad and Stockholm. It was about -2 degrees on average with lots of snow. We arrived at Gothenburg and it was sunny and dry. We came back a few days later and it was snowed under!
The rally was oresome. Cold but worth it. We got up early each day and drove to one of the stages, parked up and walked between 2 - 6km into the forrest and picked a good viewing spot. The locals had little camps set up with fires, tents and chairs. We were jealous but did manage to steal a fire on the last day.
There was one aussie driving in the rally, Chris Atkinson, and it was his first rally driving a Subaru WRX. This is the only snow rally in the world and it usually gets down to -25 but it was a mild winter. Driving in the snow was quite exciting and risky. A truck jack knifed on the otherside of the road in front of us but we managed to survive the bad conditions.
I managed to slip over four times and Gav once. It was quite funny and in front of lots of people. It was very icy and slippery everywhere but that was all part of it. We didn't get to the Icebar in Stockholm as it's shut on sunday nights, the only night we were there!! And we missed an ice hockey game by an hour so not much luck. Although, Sweden is beautiful and is spread out alot.
So back to London once again. Back to study and work. Actually looking forward to a bit warmer weather than here! Take care all and hope you're all well.
Lots of love,
Megs
