Marty's Adventures
A couple of very busy days complete! My broomball team won the Gold at the Pacific Rim Broomball Championships!! The final game was exciting, a hard played game by both teams with a final score of 3-0. I did not get any points the whole tournament, I do not normally play with this team as I am not quite the same calibre as they are but I feel like I contributed to all the wins and played hard! I did get a penalty in the final game, it was for roughing!! Sounds worse than it was, just a little scuffle in front of the net protecting my goalie! There was a banquet last night where there was lots of trading of Jerseys and pants and jackets! Very exciting times....got home around 1030 ish and had to pack before bed. I woke quite early this morning to catch some of the girls leaving on earlier flights, I had arranged to send my gear, some souvenirs and a few things I figured I didn't actually need home with one of my friends. A couple of hours later I went to the airport with my roomies Tina and TL and Kyra. I said see ya later to the girls as they were heading back to Canada and I was heading to Sydney. It was kind of a lonely feeling saying goodbye to the girls, heading out on my own now for a month.....I know I will meet people along the way.....but just felt very lonely for some reason. I am pretty exhausted from the tournament and anxious to get settled in Sydney. The flight was quick....eyes closed....eyes open on landing.....sooooo very tired! I decided not to stay at a hostel and got a great deal on Hotwire for a hotel downtown. Arrived at the hotel, got settled and found a grocery store, Set up with breakfast and fruit for the next couple of days. I also found out the hotel is a 20 minute walk to the harbour and Sydney Opera House. I went for a walk to get myself orientated and to see the Opera House. Wow!! so exciting to finally see it!! it was very busy around there, sooooo many people! I was able to get my ticket for tomorrow's event at the Opera House. I then proceeded to sit on the steps of the Opera House and watch the sunset and people watch. I could of say there for hours! Back to the hotel as this girl needs an early to bed night to recover and be ready for a big day of exploring the city tomorrow!! Bring on Sydney!
