Marty's Adventures
I have not completely changed myself over to the time zone here. I want to go to bed at 8 at night and am wide wake at 5 in the morning. This morning was not an exception. I tried very hard to sleep in and I managed to stay in bed until 7. Up and showered and on the go. I found some breakfast and then made my way over to the Shinjuku Train Station where I put my luggage in a locker. I did not want to worry about it all day so it was best to just lock it up for the day. I wandered around Shinjuku for a while and it was very quiet and nothing was open. I thought perhaps on Sunday nothing is open....Wrong.... Just not that early! I eventually made my way back to my hotel and checked out. A family friend Fergus Hann ( from way back in Elliot Lake) and Aki picked me up at 11. Ferg, Aki and I headed out and we went to Harajuku. It was great to have Aki as he knows the city well. We had a lovely time, just wandering around and found a great place for lunch. We had dumplings and cucumbers with miso on them and some sort of side dish of bean sprouts. We had a light lunch so we had room for dessert! We found our way to a farmers market. So many neat things to see and even watched this little machine making sesame oil.... Smelled amazing! They had the coolest food trucks there! Tiny! We wandered around these random streets checking out people's gardens. It was neat to be in such an old neighborhood yet right in the middle of the city. We had coffee and a yummy dessert and a great visit. Caught up with Ferg and got to know Aki a little. It was great. We walked back to Shibuyu where we parted ways. I have done so much walking the past couple of days the thought of running hurts! I actually have blisters! I found the train back to Shinjuku and got my luggage. By now it was 330 and I figured best to just get the train out to the airport. I hopped on the Narita Express. No discount going out to the airport. I am staying at the airport in a capsule hotel. Perfect for what I need and only $39!! I would compare it to a hostel but with a your own little pod. There is a shade at the end for privacy but you can still hear everyone like in a hostel. It has everything you need even pj's but I am in my own comfy ones! It will do and I am off to meet up with my team in the morning. Off to sleep early as I can't seem to stay awake and it is not even 7!! I will try to stay up as late as I can! This switching over is not going so well! Maybe once I am settled in Tomakomai it will happen! Oyasumi!
