After leaving Crest we were heading for Fribourg in Switzerland to catch up with a friend, but due to timing and other factors we found ourselves stopping on the way, in Dole, again. The campground there is quite cheap and it is a lovely city.
This time we found an Australian couple who live for six months of the year on an old Dutch boat they bought 10 years ago. They spend their six months cruising the rivers of Europe.
From Dole to Fribourg wasn't far, so we arrived at our friend's place early, which gave us time to have a look around a university's botanical gardens, which were quite amazing with a very diverse range of flora.
It was great catching up with our friend that afternoon and night, but unfortunately he had commitments for the following days, so he left us to look after ourselves in his apartment.
For this reason and having been to Fribourg before, we decided to only stay two nights and to leave on Thursday morning, heading back to France on our way back to England.
So we spent Wednesday looking around Fribourg to see what, if anything had changed. Nothing had changed, it is still a lovely old town with beautiful old buildings and streets.
Thursday morning we packed a little earlier than usual with a view of getting into France. We hadn't gone far when the bike had other ideas, it wanted a break. I had smelt fuel off and on for most of this trip, but couldn't find any leak. Well now I was left with no doubt, the fuel was spraying in my eyes!
The fuel pump had developed a leak, a problem BMW had known about and had recalled the bike for. Is was checked in San Fransisco and given the all clear. Well now it had a problem!
We also had a problem, the first of August is a public holiday to celebrate the founding of Switzerland. So we spent the night watching a great fireworks display over Fribourg.
Friday we would contact the local dealer to see about getting a replacement pump, well that is what we thought. It appears Switzerland is no different to Australia and half of Switzerland was closed on Friday too. Ok, so maybe Saturday, no, the dealers are still closed, and they don't open Mondays.
So now we are stuck, though it could be worse, at least our friend has said we can stay in his apartment, even though he is off to France and America and we will have his place to ourselves.

Jan Oh! The delay has continued! I'm relieved that the fireworks display was not from a candle or cigarette next to your leaking fuel... Erk! Spraying in your eyes : /
Charmaine & Egon Still love the chairs you showed us yesterday in France! Ordered 2 today.....
