Happy New Year! We welcomed in 2011 in beautiful Venice. Arriving on New Years eve we were staying in a very social hostel, which was great fun and we met some cool travellers. Arriving in the early afternoon the first thing we did was full up on delicious pizza then wander around the beautiful old town. Everyone had dinner at the hostel together that night and after drinks we headed off to welcome in the New Year with 70,000 others in San Marco Plaza.

Yesterday we were feeling pretty weary but still made the most of our day in Venice, walking all around and stumbling across the sites. We got to basilica in San Marco Plaza in the morning to witness some of mass with the choir singing. In the afternoon we met up with some Italian friends of Mikis and did lots more wondering and went on a Gondala together, which was well worth it, seeing the city Ina whole new light. Right at the end we caught a beautiful sunset over the city, before having a well earned rest last night!
