Aye up folks!! Hows it goin?
Here we are in the sleepy town of Kampot, but first.....
Sihanouk Ville, Cambodia, is a fantastic place, it's laid-back, quiet, relaxing and has beautiful beaches. At the moment its rainy season, so very few westerners which is a bonus! Even better is that there has been very little rain since we arrived! We stayed in the Small Hotel, Swedish-owned, local staff. This hotel is great - and the staff and even better! We stayed here for four nights and at the end of it the staff there become friends! I would recommend this place to anyone travelling there. Check it out @ http://www.thesmallhotel.info/.
While in Sihanouk Ville we went to the nearby Bamboo Island by boat, stopping for a little snorkelling en route. Bamboo island is beautiful, white sandy beaches and very few people. There are also a few oxon living here, and like goats they eat anything, one of the guides chased one after it deciced to sniff around a bin. Unfortunately, me, Kim, and Rachel were all in its path as it escaped a beating, so we had to move pretty damn quicky. Being trampled by an ox would not be my first choice of death but the location would have made up for it!
Cambodia has some stunning coastline and islands, though if you wanna see them get here as soon as possible as the areas are starting to be developed - this is of course great for the local economy but means more and more westerners will be coming here - boo!!
We went out one night to the handful of bars that they have here with Berot, from the Small Hotel, and we ended up pretty drunk to say the least - well I did anyway - there is a video of me dancing like an idiot, which will be on good websites near you soon. At the final bar, where we shot my latest video, a coupla English lads had a fight with each other - it makes me so proud to be English - God bless binge drinking. Prior to the fight one of them told me they'd been drinking all day and what a superb day they'd had, whilst the other threw up in the sand, just before fighting ensued!!!
Met a lass from Preston who was with them - she was a PNE fan too!
Anyway, we are now in Kampot, and Kim has just asked me if I have nearly finished typing this - I have'nt cos I'm so slow at typing. So I'd best finish up.
Lots of love,
Rick and Kim
PS All Cambodians think David Beckham is a lady-boy. We agree.
Cambodia is fantastic
We are coming home in about 10 weeks as Kim has been accepted at college - well done Mrs M!!
Get the party started!!
