Part 2 of Mitchell's catch up!Well we arrived safely in Pattaya at 7am after a 12 hour bus journey which wasn't much fun, thinking we had good seats we soon realized this was not the case, let me tell you spending 12 hours next to the toilet is no joy especially as when they serve you food nad this is were they seem to brining it from! Yum (not) Also trying to attempt the toilet and high speed is not much fun either as I found out, I managed just about to go to the loo with out ending up on the floor, but as I left the loo to wash my hands the bus suddenly slammed on its breaks and I went flying in to the door with such a smack that Rick heard my head it the glass from where he was sat, luckily for me I was ok just a little shocked and angry at the bus driver?idiot. After that I tried to bed down but due to the chorus of snoring that's was bounding round the bus it was impossible. So we finally arrived in Pattaya very tired and unsure of were to go as we hadn't managed to contact our friends and find out where they were. So after we got ripped off by the taxi driver who dropped us in the center of town we wondered round for a while with our heavy backpacks melting in the heat and wondering what kind of place this was. There were men everywhere walking around with young Thai girls thinking they were king when really they looked pathetic, but it was good to laugh about.Well we finally caught up with our friends and headed out for the night and this is were we really begun to learn what Pattaya was all about; basically Pattaya is the definition of SIN. Men come here from all around the world to hook up with Thai girls, there are 1000's of men walking arm in arm with the paid for girl friends. There are wall to wall bars of Thai girls trying to entice men in to buy them drinks amongst other things. It's a cross between Blackpool and Benidorm with a sprinkle of Soho on speed! This place is the pits. However we had a great time, we just wondered from bar to bar people watching, and playing guess the guys profession and if he had a wife back home! Which many of them did. We met this group of Dutch blokes who were all in their 60's who come here three times a year for a month at a time, I'm surprised they had enough energy but with enough Viagra anything is possible. They each had a Thai girl and were telling us stories that are far too X-rated for me to put on here, our mum's read this for god sake! So after three days in Pattaya which is enough for any sane person we decided to make our way to Cambodian border.Up and out at 7am we drove for 4 hours to Trat which was painless enough and we were well entertained by a Ned from London who has lived a varied life so had many story's to tell, we then switched bus's to bake for 2 hours as the fans were broke in another bus to Thai/Cambodian border. We finally arrived and were swarmed by guys trying to ferry us across they grabbed our bags and tried to make off to border, luckily both Rachel and myself have big mouths and they soon left our bags alone. Crossing from Thailand to Cambodia was fine no trouble and they didn't try and rip us off. We then had to make a choice of either staying in Koh Kong for the night and catching the 8am ferry to Shiunksville which would have taken 4hours or hiring a mini bus that day and taking 6 hours. We opted for the latter and decided to get it over and done with in one day. After Rachel and I bargained hard we had ourselves a mini bus and driver. The first few hours were great, Cambodia is such a contrast to Thailand, jungle in every direction and very little development. The roads (I say roads in the loosest term) were like a teenager with acne. Which just added to fun of the ride. After a while we came to our first ferry crossing which was made from wooden planks and a small engine but managed to get us across with no problems. The next was a little different; to start with it had broken down on the other side, so we sat around in the village waiting for it to be fixed. Being stared at curiously by all the locals. Eventually it was fixed and was heading our way when it approached we noticed that this to was just a few wooden planks, but this had a huge engine on either side with two batteries hooked up and a long metal pole attached to either side with a propeller attached to the end and fuel in coke bottles. So as they started the boat up with the poles in the air they then lowered the poles in the water and we were off, ingenious idea if you ask me. Unfortunately due to the delay it was now getting dark and the driver was getting faster, the next 3-4 hours was one hell of a white knuckle ride, I don't think I have ever been as scared in my life. This guy cornered at high speed not caring if he was over taking or if there was on coming traffic or people on the road. It was so dark you couldn't see much until the last minuet but this didn't seem to slow him down. We had few near misses and our hearts were in our throats most of the way. If I was to start believing in god now was the time! So after 4 hours of death defying driving, we finally made it to our destination. As I jumped out of the van I wanted to hit and kiss the driver at the same time, although I decided not to do either as we had also realized on the way that he had TB which also didn't help with his driving and we thought he was going to KO at the wheel at any second. So we are alive and well in Cambodia, and really looking forward to exploring, this country it's going to be an adventure in its self I know it and you know what I can't wait bring it on is what I say. Mum's please don't worry to much as the people here are so friendly and I know we will be fine.Take careKim & Rick
