Hi Everyone,
So I have left camp now and slowly making my way down the east coasts towards New York.
I left camp that was becoming increasingly quiet, nearly a week ago. I am now in the Boston area stay with a friend who sadly did not attend camp this year but who's family has welcomed me into their home.
For a couple of days I explored the centre of Boston, including a "Mapparium". It is essentially a giant, stainglass sphere you can walk into. The design is the globe and there is a little light show in there. It was also really weird to talk in there, I could hear my voice in surround sound and anyone whispering on one side sounded like they were standing right beside you! So I am thinking I should have a sphere classroom next year to make sure everyone can hear me and I can hear everyone talking when they aren't suppose too! You know who you all are!
I also did the Freedom Trail through Boston. It is a route marked by a red bricks which you follow - I felt very much like Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz but following red bricks rather than yellow. It marks the route taken by Paul Revere in 1775 when the British (Yes, us!) were approaching to attack Boston when America was trying to declare independence from Britain. Paul Revere ran in the streets calling "The British are coming, the British are coming!" to have everyone come out and prepare to fight.
Whilst doing this historical walk, I came across some street dancers who were amazingly talented. Unfortunately I got dragged up by them to be involved! They must have known about my also Carlton Dance moves you have all seen! I had to stand next to 3 other people and have one of teh dancers run straight at us! He jumped...did a sumersault...and landed on the other side of us!
I also went to visit the USS Constitution a ship that the British fought against again when America were fighting for independence (which they achieved - obviously).
After a few days of excitement in Boston centre, I went to Cape Cod which is a little south of Boston to meet with some more friends at a beautiful beach house to celebrate my birthday. We had bonfires on the beach and some swimming and sun bathing we even played a game of Sardines (see if you can find out what the game is if you have never heard of it.)
I am now back in Boston and in the next few days I hope to find out more about the history of the discovery of Europeans (us) discovering the New World (America) many years ago, the first European's settling in America as the alighted the Mayflower and how they lived.
From there I will continue towards New York City. Anyway I hope you are all well and if any of you see Mrs Tunnel can you wish her a happy belated birthday from me please! Check out the pictures and I hope you are all having a great time at your new schools....now that is an adventure!
Cheerio for now
From Miss Bayne and Monkey!
