Phillips Family Travels
Breakfast at 8am on the boat and then a quick demonstration by the chef on how to prep decorative vegetables whilst the boat ambled its way back to port. Found out that a Typhoon is heading to Halong Bay and that no boats permitted to go out for next two days, that was close we were so fortunate with the weather. Jumped on the coach and 4 hours back to Hanoi with a stop off at a fantastic ceramics factory where we saw the pottery process from start to finish. Small things make all the difference and when we got back to Hanoi they had arranged for us to have day rooms so we could shower which is lovely in the heat and humidity. We had time to get some money out and wander around the surrounding streets which gave us a real feel for the local area. The people have been so so friendly. Then onto the bus to the station where the over night train awaited us. We were about to embark on a 13 hour, 600km ride to Hue. What a night! 4 bunks in a room and 18 people meant that two people had to share with the locals, I was volunteered along with our guide Phi. Thank fully Sammy and Tara offered to share and Daisy went into their room leaving me to go in with the rest of the Phillips clan, phew. Still it was not a comfortable night but great fun with the rest of the group..... Train left Hanoi at 7:30pm
