Now it's time to walk the bridge. It's amazing. To the east you can see Tower Bridge. In front of you you could count maybe 8 spires of the churches designed by Christopher Wren after London burned in 1666. You're going to land in old London. London that was trodden by Romans.
If you want, go into St. Paul's. Gorgeous. The world knows it as the church where Princess Diana and Prince Charles were wed. If you go in, go clear to the front and around behind the altar. It's the American chapel, where the American men and women who gave their lives to help save Britain are honored.
St. Paul's was a big, white target for the Nazis during the Blitz. Brave volunteers stood on the railing surrounding the roof with buckets of sand to put out the fires that were constantly starting during the bombing.
Out front, across the street, there's a statue honoring the men and women of the fire brigades who gave their lives putting out fires during the Blitz.
London is a city whose bravery will break your heart.
It's about 4 o'clock. Still plenty of time.
