mind the path
Just at the top of the ridge is the Uffington White Horse. It's one of the many chalk figures created God-knows-why about 700 BC. I've always found them fascinating, and I was determined to find this one. It's not exactly on the main road to Oxford.
But I found it. And once you're there, you can walk through the field, have a picnic, there's a nice parking area.
Obviously, the way to really see this is from heaven. That was the whole idea.
I had a delightful lunch.
Then I drove to a hotel I booked online. In the Oxford burbs. With a bus downtown. Turned out to be perfect.
