We woke up at around 05:30 to shower and pack together the last of our things before heading dow stairs to pay for the room. As we were waiting for our bus outside a collision between two motorbikes happened. I didn't see what happened very clearly but a mother and her young son were on the floor with the bike. Everyone rushed to their help picking up her son who looked so sweet in his white and navy sailor-esque school uniform and she was off again to drop him to school.
We got on the bus (which wasn't a sleeper bus sadly) and there were a few other tourists on it already and we began our journey to the national park. I was so nackered and tried to sleep but couldn't get comfortable. The one time i really needed a sleeper bus, sod's law! The man on the bus said the journey would take us around 3.5 hours which was a lie as we arrived around five hours later. You could tell we were coming up to the national park as we were surrounded by lush green mountains and rice fields.
There were only four of us who are staying overnight, the rest of the passengers must have booked a day trip which is silly really! We got off with two dutch guys as they'd booked a place at the hostel "easy tiger". We went in to enquire about a room but they only had dorms so we went dead opposite the road to a another hotel who had a room for us for $10. Looking at the bed was like a gold mine to me so after half a cigarette i clambered in under the fleecey blanket.
Daniel went across the road back to easy tiger for some lunch while i stayed in but asked if he could grab me a watermelon juice. I got some sleep while he was eating, trying hard to recover from whatever demonic illness that had possessed me. When he came back he said they didn't have any watermelon so i made do with water again lol. I got some more sleep when i heard Dan leave the room but i didn't know where he was. I was sick of water so i dragged myself out of bed, taking the key and went across to easy tiger where i ordered an iced lemon and honey juice and hot ginger tea. The perfect remedy.
I took my drinks outside and sat down with my book on Vietnam to read up on some stuff. I saw Daniel jog passed me a few times, i half expected him to be here having a beer but something possessed him to jog, good on him. He spotted me sitting outside and came to say hi. Not long after, i went back up to the room and left Dan at "easy tiger". I got some more rest.
When i woke up again it was dark and Dan was back now but was leaving again soon to get some dinner but he was out the door before i could join him. Instead i sat up in bed at first feeling sorry for myself then remembered the lunar eclipse so i walked downstairs to get a lighter for my cigarette where i saw a bunch of american men gathered outside the hotel. I took my camera with me and walked a little bit up the road to get a good glimpse of the eclipse. It looked marvellous; like marmalade even. A marmalade moon, blood stained. SO pretty! Especially with the dark outline of the mountains under it. So amazing. Daniel came back after around two hours with a beer, to which i poured half of it down the sink because he didn't bring me back some salt to gurgle with water. At times like these i just wish i was at home with my parents taking care of me and a beautiful cat to cuddle. We sat in bed watching the rest of Wolf of Wall street before falling asleep.
