We woke up fairly early today at around 09:00 and got ready for a day on the vinpearl island. I decided to wear my red bikini today because i don't wear it oftem and i'm expecting my period so if there is any leakage at all i cam blame it on the colour fading from the bikini. We left and bgan to walk down to the cable cars. It was a longer than expected walk in the sun and when we were almost there we jumped on a motorbike that had pulld up which took hs the rest of the way for $1.
We arrived at the cable car station and saw the price list, we thought it was 320,000D for the cable car and water park but it was 500,000! Good job we brought extra money! We handed over the money and received two cards and a map of the park. It isn't just a waterpark, there's also a few fun fair rides as well as an aquarium. We waited for a carriage to come and we walked carefully onto it. We were sharing our cart with two old Russian women who barely spoke two words to each other. We began our ascent over the port and across the long stretch of sea. This is the bit i hate, especially how long it is! It was a beautiful view of the mountains and boats and the reflection of the sun on the south china sea created the illusion of thousands of crystals sparkling on the surface of the water.
The cable car took around 10 minutes to cross over to Vinpearl island and when we got off there was hardly anyone there because we were so early. We took advantage of this and went on the swing carousel. When the ride began i was surprised at how high and fast it spun round but we were able to get a glance at the rest of the theme park. We then went into the aquarium which houses dozens of beautiful fish. We saw so,e turtles and sting rays as well as a whole heap of fish i've never seen before. We went on a conveyor belt type thing that took us through a tunnel of water so the fish (including sharks) were swimming directly above and around us.
We then headed to the locker room to put our valuables away and walked to the first slide. It was still quite quiet when we got there so we didn't have to line up at all really. We both put our flip flops in the locker so i found it hard to walk as the ground was super hot from the sun and the stairs up to the top of the slide didn't help either. It was like a metal grill that dug into my feet. We had to lay on a long piece of polystyrene front ways for this slide which was i credibly fun but water got into my nose and mouth at the end. We then went on a slide called the Tsunami which was a vertical drop down like the shape of a "U". It looked terrifying but we grabbed a tube with two holes so we could both use it and walked up the stairs.
When we got up i felt so nervous, i've never liked slides this steep let alone one with water and as girls were going on before us in the que they all screamed on their way down. We got on the tube and pushed gently down and it was the strangest, scariest experience ever. My stomach felt like it was upside down and i couldn't help but scream as loud as i could. I was scared of the tube going upside down but it was fine. We drifted down into a plunge pools and i felt pretty good. I was still buzzed off the adrenaline.
We continued to try loads of other slides but some of them closed at certain times amd opened a hour later, not what i expected for $25! We went on the wave pool which was a big pool that generated big waves which was fun. Daniel had trouble getting onto the tube snd kept sliding off which gave me the giggles. We went on a few more slides and on one, we had to slide down on our front and when we got to the end the water pulled my bikini top down so getting up was a messy stumble whilst trying to hide my assets, not the me tion the bruise i got from it, god knows how!
I wanted to ride a flume slide with a tunnel so we headed up to three, all together. Getting up the stairs was a painful journey as my feet still burned from the tiles and i had blisters brewing from my flip flops. Me and daniel went down on different slides at the same time and when i was off i forgot hot fast they are! Water was splashing all over my face and the tunnel had lines going around it which looked so trippy like that scene out of willy wonker amd the chocolate factory when they're on the boat. Needless to say it was fun.
The scariest ride was called "space hole" which was a ling windy flume slide but at the emd there is a bowl type thig that you spin around in before getting plonked down inti the water under it. It was possibly one of the scariest rides as it was so, SO fast and went down really steep just before you come out into the bowl. I found it so hard to breathe as there was constantly water going up my nose and in my mouth so when i came down into the bowl i was gaspingg for air before being dunked into the pool below where i couldn't see a thing. It was such an epic ride and very very fun if you didn't find it hard to breathe. We went round on a few other slides until we tot hungry so got food from a fast food caravan type thing. I got a hotdog which was edible but Daniel's burger wasn't so much.
We got our stuff out the locker room and headed back through the park to the cable car station. It was a scenic stroll by the coast and up a hill near where the "vinpearl" hollywood-esque sign is. There was a massive que of chinese people lining up for a slow ride on a tiny car up the mountain near the sign which looked really good but we didn't really have enough time as we are getting a sleeper bus at 18:00 to Hoi An. We popped into a another fast food place called "Lotteria" for chicken nuggets and chips before boarding the cable cars for another long, nerve racking yet beautiful journey back to the mainland.
We took a taxi back to our hotel which cost 80,000 but i'd rather that than get on a motorbike. We got back and booked our tickets for 18:00 to Hoi Ann and went upstairs to pack and charge my ipad. We were still waiting for our laundry and i couldn't finish packing or dressing until we got it. And when it came, ten minutes before we had to leave, it was still really damp. So annoying, especially having nowhere to dry it. We packed the laundry im our backpacks and headed downstairs when a woman came up to call us. We followed the driver to the car and waved bye to reception, we realised we didn't pay for the laundry but i would refuse anyway as it's soaking wet. We got on the minibus and drove to the bus station which took around 20 minutes. When we got there we were directed over to our bus to out our backpacks on.
The workers were taking apart the motorbikes of three english boys and loading them onto the baggage area. Our backpacks ended up going inside the bus on the back seat which was close to us. I sat by the window and daniel sat in a row of three in the middle and was later joined by a vietnamese man. We didn't leave for a while and when we did, we stopped again for ages fiddling with stuff in the baggage area. It was quite a bumpy journey and i didn't really get any sleep. The toilet on board was awful. The floor was wet; probably with piss and there was junk in the sink so you had no room to wash your hands. There was also a weird smell of rotting pineapple that Daniel thought came from the bathroom. At around 02:00am when we were driving by the coast, we saw the most beautiful sight ever. Hundreds of white lights scattered across the black sea. These are the lights of the many circular fishing boats used by the vietnamese. It was incredible as there were so many of them stretching out really far.
I managed to get around two hours sleep and woke up as we were driving through fields. We stopped an hour after waking up and i prodded dan to get up. We got off and got given our backpacks and them onto another small minibus that would take us to hoi an. We were co fused as we thought the coach was dropping us to hoi an but at least the mini bus was free.
