We woke up late again as we went to bed very late last night so when we woke up we went straight to get something to eat. We went to a different place this time, just up from our usual. We sat down and didn't need a menu as they only serve one dish; Cao Lau. It was so tasty, they gave even more pork than the usual too which looked and tasted yummy.
We bumped into Darryl before the food and suggested a fresh beer at bar 43 so when we finished we headed over to meet him. After the beer the owner of his hotel found him and told him he had to leave the room. There were different stories that emerged as he told Philipp a different one but our overall guess is that he is in trouble with the police because his guesthouse wasn't registered. This wasn't a problem as Darryl had planned to move to our hotel today anyway.
We left Bar 43 and walked around town to try and find the chapel we passed in the bus. I thought it was the ancient family chapel but when we got there it wasn't the same one. I'm kind of regretting not having a dress made as well as there are some nice backless designs. I'm having trouble remembering exactly what we did as it's a few days ago now, i've literally had no time to write.
I remember walking along a road to a different chapel which looked similar to the one i wanted to see but wasn't white, instead it was a reddish colour. We went back to the hotel then and met with Darryl. Once we all showered and changed we went to meet Philipp at Bar 43 for a few beers and maybe Alexia as it's her birthday.
When we left to go to bar 43 we were all a bit peckish so stopped by at 108 baguette place, as always. I got a cheese baguette to eat while walking to the bar. When we got there, philipp was there with Alexia and Tom. We moved onto a bigger table and ordered a round of beers. We left it up to Alexia to decide where to eat and Philipp had a number of nice options. We made some more origami while deciding, this time we made a pretty flower. After a few rounds of beer we paid up and decided to head to an upmarket restaurant.
Getting there was hilarious. Daniel was on Philipp's motorbike with him,Darryll was sitting on the back of Alexia's bike and i sat on Tom's. It was so scary at first as i felt unsteady and vulnerable, no one was on the road though which is handy. I had to remember that i am being driven around by a dutch man and that this man has probably been cycling since birth, i was in safe hands. The first place we stopped at had stopped serving so we went just down the road into a restaurant called "little menu" i think.
Sat outside were tourists wearing an apron, they must have finished a cooking class. We were lucky that they were still serving as it was quite late. The menu was amazing, they had tuna steak, red snapper, stuffed squid and so much more but all for over 150,000 and i only had around 120,00 so i settled with sautéed chicken with garlic and rice. It was a great photo op with all of us sat around the table so we asked the waiter to take a few.
The food then came and it was soooo nice. The chicken was lightly covered in flour which made it melt in the mouth. Tom got the tuna steak which looked amazing i only wish i wasn't so stingy with money and to bring more out! We were debating whether to go to a bar or back to our hotel and we all agreed to come back and chill at the hotel and take advantage of the pool.
Daniel and I walked back this time while darryl and philipp took the motorbike and sped ahead. We walked with alexia and Tom who were cycling to find a shop to get cheap wine. We tried one but it was 90,000 and alexia bought some dark chocolate, little birthday treat while tom had an ice cream. On the way back to the hotel we passed a little old lady who had a stall selling wine which had the price of 100,000 but we managed to haggle it down to 80,000.
When we got back to the hotel we met Darryl and Phil in Darryl's room and cracked open the bottle of Dalat wine and poured it into small teacups that were in his room. Me and Philipp rolled a joint and we all headed up to the roof. We sat by the front of the hotel and the moon was so bright it provided decent light. We brought the wine and chocolate up with us to have while we smoke. Hoi an is such a peaceful place at night despite the many bars open till late. After a while chatting on the rood Darryl made a gesture which suggested we all go swimming so i went into the room to change into a bikini and headed out to meet them in the pool. At first, Alexia and Tom were sitting on the lounger as they didn't have any swimwear but after a while Alexia got in with us for a swim. Tom never came in the whole time and left shortly after. He had to wake the man up to open the gate so he could take his bike out and the man was not impressed but at least he didn't tell us off for being in the pool.
Phillip has nowhere to stay as when we moved into the same hotel as Darryl he also got kicked out and he didn't find anywhere else to stay. His original plans were to sleep on the beach but there are rooms in our hotel that are vacant and the doors are always left open. This means Philipp could sneak into a room, sleep and leave before the maids notice the door shut. He has a strong torch with him that he brought into the pool which created a nice light, it was such a cool, tranquil atmosphere. He brought out his good waterproof camera and took a group photo of us all.
After a while in the pool and another cheeky joint that we smoked while sitting on the ledge in the pool, trying hard to keep our hands dry Alexia left us for good as she was going to Dalat tomorrow so we wished her happy birthday again and waved her off. The boys were talking about a gravity bong but i wasn't bothered for it as i was getting cold and tired. The gravity bong didn't happen so i went to have a shower and we all went to the mini mart together for snacks.
I was starving for a baguette but they had finished so instead i got a bag of crisps and a strawberry yoghurt and Daniel got m&ms and haribo cola bottles. Darryl got two bags of crisps and Philipp was walking around, basket in hand throwing in those Lebinz biscuits, orange marmalade, cashew nuts and wasabi peas. When i opened my yoghurt it didn't quite taste right and the use by day was lightly engraved on the bottom so i couldn't read it without spilling yoghurt everywhere so i left it. When we got back we had another joint and enjoyed the snacks. Philipp spread some marmalade onto biscuits for us all which were yummy and the marmalade had some sort of a bite to it. Darryl's seaweed crisps were nice as were the cashew nuts phil bought. It had gotten very late so we all decided to call it a night and got some sleep until tomorrow. Phillip snuck into the room next to us slept for only a few hours and left early at 07:00.
