Day 6:
When we woke up we finished the last of our packing and sat outside on our porch for a while, soaking up the last morning in such an amazing place. We had to leave before 12:00 in order to return our beloved motorbike/scooter without paying extra for another day. Dan drove down first with his backpack and cane back to pick me up. It was pretty quick to return the bike and helmets and we could leave our backpacks in the room until our minibus came later that day so we chucked our bags amongst the helmets and set off for some breakfast.
We thought we would try the place that the other's go to and whilst reading the menu i heard "MIMI!" I looked round to see Jackie and Dor perched at a table with coconut shakes so we joined them. I ordered a coconut shake after a little taste of jackie's and it was GORGEOUS. Ice cold yet creamy and coconutty and just fabulous! Me and dan both ordered a tuna baguette, he got fries on the side and i got hash browns. When the baguettes came, we realised it was foolish to order a side as the baguette and all it's filling was huge! It took a lot of effort finishing mine and i left half a hash brown but it certainly filled us up!
Jackie said her plans had changed as she found out about a 10 day festival starting somewhere near pai that was filled with reggae and hippies so she would delay her travels for a while. Dor was catching a bus to bangkok in a few hours so we said our goodbyes to each other whilst me and dan settled the bill. We had about 5 hours to kill until our transport arrived to get to chang khong so we set up camp in the same bar we were at with josh, jackie and dor for a drink and to use wifi. I got an iced latte and dan got an orange shake, we were chilling in the bar on the sofas for a good 2 hours, attempting to skype my mother but the connection was pretty poor so settled with texts.
Later, we went back to pick up our bags from the bike rental place and waited outside for our minibus to arrive. We ended up getting on the bus at around 19:00, the bus felt a little cramped as it was full. A lot of people began to sleep but i wasn't really tired so watched the journey outside the window. We were going up and down through the notorious windy roads except this time it was pitch black which made it a lot more scary!
We got to our second stop off at 00:35 where we learned that we still had another 2 hours of the journey to go! This was ridiculous as we should have been at the guest house half an hour before then. Unfazed by the lateness the drivers gave no apology so we all climbed back on board the bus for the last leg of the journey, i was able to sleep for a little while at this point until i was woken up by something horrid.
I heard the minibus beeping a lot and dan next to me saying "no no no no" but i was fully woken up by a sharp thud and the feeling of us driving over something pretty big. It was a dog, i felt sick after this, like i could vomit. It's not even the first time i've been in a motor vehicle and ran over a dog mind, the first time was on my uncle's tractor in egypt, which he did deliberately as to stop to dog eating all our chickens, pleasant.
Shortly after the dog incident we pulled into our accommodation for the night at 02:35 (two whole hours later than expected). Me and dan managed to get our own room which we were pleased about! The plan was for us all to drive to the border at 7:30 in the morning but dan and I were so nackered we just wanted a lay in and so that is exactly what we did.
