Day 5:
When we woke up we decided to go back to our usual spot on the corner for breakfast; american set as always. Josh, Dor and Jackie spotted me in the restaurant and came and sat with us while we had our food. It was josh's last day in Pai and had to catch a mini bus to bangkok at 14:30 so we arranged to meet on the bamboo bridge near the jazz club for a last smoke together. After brekkie, me and dan quickly went back to our guesthouse "Donuthouse" to use the loo and pick up our sunglasses as he had forgotten them. We left 5 minutes after to meet the others by the bridge. I pre-rolled in our room to save some time so we sat by the river in the sun chatting, joking and smoking together. After a short while it was coming up to the time josh had to leave so we sat down in a bar and had a fruit shake together, i had a banana one which was yummy! We all said our goodbyes to josh and wished him a safe journey. We were still in the bar when we passed us on the bus saying one last goodbye.
We then said goodbye to Jackie and Dor although it was imminent that we would bump into them again either tonight or tomorrow and got back on the bike to drive to the swimming pool. Entry and a singa beer and coke cost around 210TB but it seemed worth it as we were able to lounge in our own little shack with a padded cushion to lay on right by the pool. I love the pool as they play a good playlist of house music and there are a few hippies juggling. We decided that we should go into the pool as we were both sweating pretty badly. Dan got in before me, i slowly lowered myself into the cold water an inch at a time but i did well as the water came up to just above my cleavage, plus, i soon climatized myself to the temperature of the pool so warmed up pretty quickly.
After spending around 2/3 hours at the pool we made our way back to book our minibus to Chang khong for the next day. The deal included a mini bus to pick us up at 18:30 to arrive at Chang khong for 00:00 plus one nights stay in a guesthouse before another drive to the border. After getting it all booked we drove back to our guesthouse (i can't remember if i mentioned that we had originally booked only 2 nights in Pai but ended up staying for 5 as i fell inlove with the place). After a quick shower and change of clothing we drove down to the market again where we had another food feast. We wanted to try an indian stall we'd seen the night before but the que was crazy and we knew it would be a while but as we walked further down, we came accross another little indian food stall run by a timid looking asian girl. There were around 6 pots infront of her filled with different currys and a steamer type thing filled with rice. I was going to get a chicken curry and rice but then quickly changed my mind and got a biryani; which was delicious. We ended our culinary rampage with another waffle, this time from a different lady and i think they were nicer than the previous one, it was thick fluffy and yummy with a generous serving of nutella in the middle, like a waffle sandwich.
As it was our last night in Pai i was reluctant for the fun to end so i suggested going on a little night drive before going pack to the guesthouse to pack. I decided i wanted to drive as it had been dan driving for a majority of the time as he had better control over he steering. So we set off in the night, boy on my back and i began to drive down the long road, sucking everything in as i knew it was a moment i would never get back again. We drove up the road and up a few hills; me cackling like a mad woman. I decided to turn back as it was getting pretty cold and my eyes were watering something crazy. It was a pretty smooth ride to be honest, no sharp turns, no bumps, i had great control over the bike until it came to the last leg; pulling into the guest house two dogs appeared out of nowhere, this startled me and i wasn't fancying a trip to the hospital for a rabies shot so i sped up abit, not knowing whether to stop on the gravel or the grass infront of our room so as i was trying to decide i steered half on the footpath and half on the grass which led to the bike skidding and landing on it's side. It fell on my knee pretty hard and it took me a moment to be able to get up. It wasn't anything devastating but my knee was pretty sore afterwards! I limped back to the room, dan holding me in one arm and went on to sleep. However, whilst reading in bed we heard a sudden loud gecko type noise which made us jump, this happened at least twice. So, dan used some medical tape to tape over the small hole that would allow a gecko to creep in and we slept, head at the foot of the bed because of the fear of a gecko falling into our mouthes whilst asleep.
