I woke up to the sound of Dan rolling us a birthday spliff, it was early around 7:30 but i got up and went to the balcony to smoke. We then headed down for our breakfast and i was pleased to see it was a buffet! I loaded my plate with toast, cheese, ham, bacon and pancakes with maple syrup! What a fantastic birthday breakfast! When we could eat no more we grabbed towels from the room and went up to the rooftop, there are only four sun loungers so i was scared they would all be taken but luckily enough there were two free! We lay our towels on the lounger and began to relax under the sun. At first there were quite a few clouds so the sun would dissapear every so often which made me think i wouldn't tan.
As it was my birthday, we both ordered a cocktail, i'd been thinking about Pina Coladas for a few days so went for one of those and Dan went for a Frangipani delight with gin, run, vodka, whiskey and orange juice. I forgot to mention that the lift in our hotel doesn't have a fourth floor, well it does but they don't use the number 4 as they consider it unlucky. We continued to sunbathe and take dips in the pool when we were sweating too much. The clouds slowly cleared and we were under the sun for hours, and it shows. We asked a staff member for a menu and both went for a club sandwich with fries. We ate this at the table on the rooftop overlooking the city streets of Pnom Penh.
We continued sunbathing for the rest of the day until the sun slowly crept under the buildings around us and we headed back to the room to shower and smoke. The original plan was to go to a Cambodian club in town somewhere but after i smoked i wasn't in the right frame of mind, and didn't want it to be one of those awkward, not really busy clubs so we headed out to the river front to find a nice place for dinner. We ended up sitting outside at an italian restaurant called la Croissete. I ordered a cocktail called a stiletto which had amaretto, banana liqeur, pineapple juice and triple sec which was gorgeousssss. To start we ordered a mixed plate of bruschetta, one with pesto and mozzarella, one with rocket and parma ham and the other with salsa which tasted amazing, i hadn't had buffalo mozzarella in ages! For mains i ordered spaghetti with cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella which was also delish, but i couldn't finish it all! We were too stuffed for dessert so just headed back to the hotel in a tuktuk. I collapsed on the bed, i was sooo tired. We had a smoke and then went to bed.
