Our accommodation at Fiumelatte is fantastic - it has a privare rooftop balcony with stunning views of the lake. We arrived extremely tired and grateful to have found the place easily.
The next morning we decided to go for a walk. We are on the 7th floor in a block of units with a shared entrance. We got to the foyer and attempted to exit using the shared entrance key - no luck. About this time the words of the agent - "is there anything else you need to know," came to mind - who would have thought to ask how to get out of the building! We were about to resort to a phone call when another family came out and showed us the exit button. Epic fail but a lesson on questions to ask next time.
We were still quite tired from our flights but managed the 20min walk to the next village Varenna. We had our first lunch out - pizza of course! The weather was a perfect temperature of 24 degrees.
Scott had fun skimming stones in the lake and managed 10 bounces. We saw wild figs and olives and quinces growing - quite suprised at how many of the local plants we recognised - the smell of the bay trees is lovely. Scott was delighted to see lots of skinks but they quickly ran off as he approached after numerous attempts with a very a stealthy approach we managed to get a photo.
Only an hour after we got back a thunderstorm arrived and it rained heavily. There hadn't been any warning and we hadn't thought to take raincoats so we're pleased to have avoided that.
Sarah: We saw a man painting some beautiful pictures on the lake front. Some of the pictures were painted on an artists palette- an oval shape with a hole for your thumb.
Scott: I saw a snake beside the lake - it was a camouflage colour with dots. We didn't have the camera but we are going to try and find it again tomorrow.
April: It was a good day.
